Salary: £25,878 to £27,319 per annum
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 15th September 2026

This is an exciting opportunity for you to join the successful and highly regarded library service at Birmingham Newman University as a Library Technical and Digital Support Assistant, supporting the day-to-day delivery of library technical services and digital systems.

Working as part of a small team, you will help ensure that students, staff and other library users are able to access and use print and electronic resources effectively.

You will be trained to undertake a range of duties in key areas of Library operations, such as acquisitions of books, journals and e-resources, circulation support, income reconciliation, stock management, scanning services, inter-library loans and collating and recording statistics. You will work across all functions supported by the team, but will have your own specific area(s) of responsibility and act as a point of contact for colleagues across the Library.

No prior experience of working in a library is required, but the successful candidate must have previous administrative experience, a good level of literacy and numeracy, and strong IT skills. You will need a logical approach to problem-solving, the ability to work accurately and methodically, and confidence in using standard software packages such as Microsoft 365. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to respond positively to a range of enquiries from students, staff and colleagues. You should be committed to providing a timely, accurate and high-quality service, be enthusiastic about adopting new technologies, and be able to work flexibly and adaptably in a busy library environment.

Informal enquiries about this opportunity are very welcome. Please contact Katie Mann at katie.mann@staff.newman.ac.uk, to discuss the role further.
