The Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences are seeking a Student Support Officer to cover a period of parental leave. 

About the role

The Student Support Officer will play a key role in enhancing the taught student experience from induction through to graduation.

The Student Support Officer will work collaboratively with academic and professional services staff to contribute to an effective integrated student support system within a specific academic department (primarily the Department of Education), as well as help to identify students at risk of not succeeding, utilising the internal processes/services available.   

The role will provide support for colleagues and processes supporting students through academic advising, course engagement monitoring, Disability Access Plans, Health, Wellbeing & Support for Study plans, Return to Study, and liaising with Student Support & Safeguarding.

The post-holder will foster and maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues in the academic department, the Faculty Student Support & Safeguarding and across the wider University.

About you

You will be pro-active and self-motivated, combining the use of your initiative with strategic thinking. 

You will be able to communicate effectively and develop good working relationships with staff and students alike. 

You should have excellent organisational skills, be able to interpret complex data and be able to successfully manage your workload, as well as stakeholder expectations.
