About the role

As Deputy Divisional Tutor, you will play a key role in supporting student progression and wellbeing across the six-year MBBS programme. You will provide advice and support through student clinics, oversee key student processes including attendance, progression, health requirements, financial support, appeals and complaints, and take responsibility for the planning and coordination of the Personal Academic Tutor Scheme. Working closely with the Divisional Tutor and colleagues across UCL, you will also contribute to curriculum, assessment and student support policy, support the ongoing MBBS curriculum review, and deputise for the Divisional Tutor where required. You will contribute to key Medical School committees and wider UCL activities, including EDI and Athena Swan, helping to create an inclusive and supportive environment where students can thrive.

Appointment details:

  • The post is grade 9, the annual salary for which ranges from £68,284 - £76,244 per annum (including LA). The pro rata salary at 0.4FTE ranges from £27,313.6 to £30,497.6 per annum (including LA)
  • This position is offered on a part-time basis (0.4 FTE), equivalent to 14.6 hours per week.
  • The appointment is available from January 2027 on a fixed-term basis for 12 months, or until the return of the substantive post holder, whichever is sooner.
  • This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 40% on site.
  • This role is available as a secondment to eligible UCL staff.

About you

We are looking for a medically qualified and GMC-registered professional with experience in undergraduate medical education and student support. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a collaborative approach and the ability to manage competing priorities, work flexibly and use initiative. You will bring empathy, integrity and a strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, with a focus on student wellbeing and professional development. Experience of educational leadership, scholarship or a postgraduate qualification in education would be desirable.
