Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract

Are you an experienced project manager who enjoys turning ideas into action, bringing people together and making complex initiatives happen?

We are seeking a Project Manager to join the Research Strategy & Funding team in the University of Oxford’s Medical Sciences Division. This is a new role in the team, offering an exciting opportunity to help shape how we deliver a varied and evolving portfolio of projects that support the Division’s research ambitions.

The Research Strategy & Funding team works across the Medical Sciences Division to create opportunities for researchers to secure funding, collaborate and engage with stakeholders, and to strengthen the wider research environment. As our Project Manager, you will help translate strategic priorities and new ideas into well-designed and successfully delivered initiatives.

No two projects will necessarily look the same. You might help establish a new fellowship or funding scheme, support the development of a cross-departmental research network, coordinate an initiative to strengthen research culture and researcher development, or lead the Medical Sciences contribution to a wider University programme. Depending on the project, you may lead delivery from initial concept through to implementation and evaluation, or provide project management for a workstream within a larger programme.

Working with academics, professional services colleagues and senior stakeholders across the Division and wider University, you will bring structure and momentum to complex projects. You will develop and manage project plans, coordinate people and resources, manage risks and budgets, support effective governance, and monitor progress and outcomes.

As this is a new role, you will also have the opportunity to help develop effective and proportionate approaches to project management within the team, applying your expertise flexibly across different types and scales of activity.

You will have proven project management experience, alongside strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills. You will be an excellent communicator, comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy and able to build productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

This is an opportunity to work on a diverse range of initiatives, build relationships across the University and make a tangible contribution to Oxford’s research ambitions.

The post is offered at Grade 7 and is available full-time. Applications for part-time working at a minimum of 0.8 FTE will also be considered.
