Postdoctoral Research Associate (Fixed Term)

We are seeking an experienced Postdoctoral Research Associate to investigate how ribosomes become licensed to enter the actively translating pool and how defects in this process contribute to human disease. 

The project integrates yeast genetics, CRISPR/Cas9 manipulation of mammalian cells, ribosome purification, translation assays, Ribo-seq and cryo-EM to define the molecular mechanisms controlling ribosome translational competence. 

Applicants should have established hands-on experience across these complementary approaches, including yeast genetics, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing of mammalian cells, ribosome biochemistry, translation assays and cryo-EM grid preparation. The successful candidate will use these techniques to connect fundamental mechanisms of ribosome function with the molecular consequences of disease-associated genetic defects. 

The Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR) is located on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and it is a collaborative institute at the interface between fundamental research and the clinic, with a mission to determine the molecular mechanisms of disease in order to advance human health. 

This is a full-time fixed-term post for 2 years.
