The Faculty of Theology and Religion is seeking to appoint a Research Centre Coordinator to provide professional operational and project coordination to the Centre at an exciting stage in its development.
The Ian Ramsey Centre for Science and Religion is an internationally recognised research centre within the Faculty of Theology and Religion at the University of Oxford. Bringing together leading scholars across theology, philosophy and the sciences, the Centre conducts interdisciplinary research addressing some of the most significant intellectual and societal questions of our time through world-leading scholarship, public engagement and international collaboration.
The successful candidate will coordinate the operational delivery of two major externally funded research programmes exploring artificial intelligence and theology and the worldview implications of quantum science, providing outstanding administrative support to internationally recognised academics and collaborators from around the world. This is a varied role for an experienced research support professional who enjoys bringing structure to complex activity and ensuring that plans are delivered effectively.
The Research Centre Coordinator will oversee the day-to-day operational coordination of Centre activities, including project planning and governance, conferences and workshops, communications, public engagement, financial administration, reporting and supporting the delivery of research-project outputs.
About you
You will be an organised and resourceful professional with experience supporting complex research, academic or programme-based activities, managing competing priorities, tracking delivery against plans and ensuring that actions are completed on schedule. You will be comfortable coordinating a range of stakeholders, maintaining project plans and action logs, organising events, monitoring deadlines and contributing to effective reporting and financial administration.
A confident communicator, you will be skilled at building positive working relationships across diverse groups, from academics and researchers to professional services colleagues, external partners and international collaborators. You will enjoy working collaboratively and providing high-quality operational support in a dynamic research environment.
Above all, you will be proactive, adaptable and solutions-focused, with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement. You will be motivated by the opportunity to contribute to world-leading interdisciplinary research and help deliver a high-quality experience for researchers, partners and stakeholders.
Application Process
You will be required to upload a covering letter/supporting statement, CV and the details of two referees as part of your online application.
The closing date for applications is 5th October 2026.
Interviews will be held in late October.
