Specialist Technician (Learning and Teaching) Embroidery

Bring your expertise in embroidery to London College of Fashion and help students develop the technical skills, confidence and creative thinking they need to bring their ideas to life.

As Specialist Technician in Embroidery, you will play an important role in supporting learning and teaching within our Textiles Technical Resources team. Working from the Embroidery Studio at London College of Fashion, you will provide specialist guidance, demonstrations and technical support to students across a range of levels, helping them explore traditional, craft and digital embroidery techniques.

You will deliver and support technical workshops, advise students on appropriate processes, materials and equipment, and help them overcome technical and creative challenges. Your expertise will also contribute to the effective running of the studio, including equipment maintenance, stock and asset management, health and safety, workshop preparation and the development of teaching and learning resources.

About you

You will have a degree, or equivalent qualification, in Textiles Embroidery for Fashion alongside substantial relevant industry experience. You will be confident communicating technical processes clearly and inclusively to a diverse student community and able to adapt your approach to different levels of experience and learning needs. 

You will combine strong technical knowledge with creativity, organisation and a collaborative approach. Experience using Wilcom embroidery software and a teaching qualification would be desirable, while experience of building positive relationships with students and using initiative to resolve practical or technical problems will be important to your success in the role.
