The London School of Economics is a cosmopolitan university situated in the vibrant centre of London that specialises in the study of social sciences.
LSE’s Data and Technology Services division provides services to over 10,000 staff and student users.
The Research HPC Support Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting and enhancing high-performance computing (HPC) and research-focused infrastructure at LSE. This role is responsible for the design, development, maintenance and optimisation of research-focused computing hardware infrastructure, including HPC clusters, GPU acceleration, networking and data storage solutions. The post-holder will work closely with researchers, technical teams and external stakeholders to deliver robust and scalable HPC solutions. This role ensures that researchers at LSE have access to cutting-edge, high-performance computing resources to facilitate computational research and AI applications
Candidates should have:
- - Strong technical expertise in high-performance computing (HPC) and GPU systems.
- - Proven experience administering, configuring, and optimising HPC clusters and GPU systems (e.g. Slurm, OpenPBS, K8).
- - Hands-on experience with open-source software build and installation frameworks specifically designed for High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments, such as Spack and Easybuild.
- - Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Perl, Bash, Ansible) and knowledge of DevOps development best practices.
