Are you a customer-focused administrative professional who thrives on helping others succeed? The School of Computer Science at the University of Sheffield is seeking an Education and Student Experience Assistant for a one-year fixed-term post.
In this varied frontline role, you will serve as the welcoming first point of contact at our school reception, greeting students, staff, and visitors while delivering exceptional customer service across face-to-face, phone and digital channels. You will take ownership of essential administrative processes across the student journey, sensitively handling confidential inquiries, signposting students to support services, updating official academic records, collating assessment marks, and providing first-line technical support for learning tools like Blackboard. Alongside daily operations, you will collaborate with colleagues to organise high-profile events such as Welcome Week and Graduation, while providing comprehensive administrative support for school meetings, including agenda setting, paper distribution, and accurate minute-taking. This dynamic role offers an outstanding opportunity to broaden your administrative skill set and build a rewarding career in higher education.
To thrive in this position, you should be educated to GCSE level or have equivalent experience, with a proven track record in a customer service or reception environment. We are looking for an empathetic, confident communicator with strong verbal and written skills, proven proficiency across Microsoft and Google packages, and the organisational agility to manage competing priorities with exceptional accuracy. Even if your background does not match every single requirement listed, your unique life experience and perspective are valuable to us, and we strongly encourage you to apply.
The University of Sheffield is a remarkable place to work where our diverse community of staff and students is at the heart of everything we do. In return for your dedication, we offer a generous rewards package including a minimum of 38 days annual leave with options to purchase more, a highly competitive pension scheme, structured learning through our Shared Skills Framework, vibrant staff networks, and extensive local discounts.
We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect, believing that diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching, and student experience.
