About us
The Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy is home to the School of Security Studies, which comprises the Defence Studies Department, the Department of War Studies and the King’s Institute for Applied Security Studies. The School brings together a diverse community working across education, research and applied security studies, supported by professional services teams committed to responsive and high-quality service delivery.
About the role
We are seeking a proactive and organised Business Support Officer to join the School Office. Reporting to the School Business Operations Manager, you will provide responsive administrative support to the business team, managers and stakeholders across the School of Security Studies. You will act as a key point of contact for service users and deliver a professional, timely and customer-focused service.
The role offers a varied portfolio of work across finance, procurement, audit, HR, space, health and safety, business continuity, information and data management, and general projects. You will maintain accurate filing systems, respond to enquiries, support meetings and projects, undertake procurement activity, and help colleagues follow financial and administrative processes. You will also support visiting staff processes, coordinate local space and infrastructure matters, and liaise with Estates & Facilities and IT to help ensure staff, visitors and postgraduate research students have suitable space and equipment.
You will contribute to the Faculty’s wider business objectives and Business Support Network, sharing ideas and good practice to improve services. The role may also include acting as a Display Screen Equipment Assessor and, where agreed, as an Evacuation Marshal or First Aider. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys varied administrative work, builds effective working relationships and takes pride in delivering accurate, dependable support.
This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 31 July 2027.
