Head of Domestic Recruitment & Widening Participation

REPORTS TO: Executive Director Enrolment Management

LOCATION: London/Hybrid (minimum 3 days per week on campus)

ABOUT THE ROLE This strategic role leads domestic recruitment, engagement and widening participation at ASU London, with accountability for enrolment and revenue. It balances recruitment of international students already in the UK (UKI), home students and underrepresented groups through targeted campaigns, outreach and partnerships. Admissions and immigration compliance remain with the Head of Admissions & Immigration Compliance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

UKI Student Engagement

• Create a distinct UKI recruitment strategy reflecting student motivations and decision journeys.
• Deliver targeted events, webinars and information sessions.
• Provide personalised guidance on programmes and applications to improve progression to offer and enrolment.

Home Students & Widening Participation

• Develop home student and widening participation strategies aligned with the Access and Participation Plan (APP) and institutional ethos.
• Deliver outreach, events, open days and campus visits with schools, colleges and communities.
• Own the creation, implementation, reporting and publication of the APP.

Outreach, Events & Partnerships

• Deploy Enrolment Advisors and Student Ambassadors across outreach, open days and campaigns to maximise engagement and conversion.
• Build partnerships with schools, colleges, pathway providers, communities and sector networks.
• Represent ASU London externally and align messaging with Marketing, Admissions, academic and professional services teams.

Data, Insight & Performance

• Set distinct KPIs and reporting frameworks for UKI, home and widening participation audiences.
• Analyse recruitment and engagement data, identify trends and gaps, and adapt activity to improve impact.

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead and develop Student Recruitment Officers and Enrolment Advisors supporting progression from enquiry to enrolment.
• Set objectives, KPIs and service standards across UKI, home and widening participation priorities.
• Foster collaboration, inclusion and continuous improvement, and manage external partners effectively.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

• Degree-level qualification or equivalent.
• Substantial higher-education experience in student recruitment and/or widening participation, including UKI and home/WP strategies.
• Strong knowledge of UK schools, colleges and pathways, with experience engaging varied audiences.
• Proven data-led strategy and team leadership.
• Willingness to travel within the UK.

Desirable

• Experience managing an APP or similar regulatory framework.
• Experience building school, college or pathway partnerships and working with UKI-focused recruitment channels.
