Directorship of the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology and Professorship of Material Culture

The Board of Electors invite applications for the Directorship of the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology and the Professorship of Material Culture from persons whose work falls within the general field of the Professorship to take up appointment on 1 October 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Candidates will have an outstanding research record of international stature in material culture and the vision, leadership, experience and enthusiasm to build on current strengths in maintaining and developing a leading research presence and running the museum of Archaeology & Anthropology. They will hold a PhD or equivalent postgraduate qualification.

The successful candidate will hold the office of the Director of the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology and the Professorship of Material Culture.

Standard professorial duties include teaching and research, examining, supervision and administration. The role of director includes strategic leadership, fundraising and management of the MAA and its collections.

The Director/Professor will be based in Cambridge. A competitive salary will be offered.
