The Accessibility & Disability Resource Centre (ADRC) is seeking to appoint a Neurodiversity and Disability Adviser to join its Non-Matriculated Student Service.
As a Neurodiversity and Disability Adviser, you will provide specialist advice, guidance, and support to prospective and current disabled students, as well as to colleagues who support disabled students across the University. You will work collaboratively with academic departments, professional service teams, and other stakeholders to facilitate inclusive learning environments and ensure students receive appropriate support throughout their studies.
Reporting to the Senior Adviser, Non-Matriculated Student Service, you will manage a diverse caseload, develop support recommendations, and contribute to the delivery and continuous improvement of the University's disability support services.
You will be qualified at degree level (or with equivalent relevant experience). A post-graduate qualification in assessing and diagnosing specific learning difficulties (e.g. Patoss practising certificate) would be desirable. You should have recent experience advising students with SpLDs and have an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of legislation, regulatory guidance and debate in relation to disability equality in a tertiary education setting. Professional accreditation (such as NADP accredited member status) would be desirable. An understanding of and commitment to the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) would be an advantage.
The successful candidate will have recent experience of advising disabled students within a higher education or comparable setting, together with a thorough understanding of disability legislation, regulatory guidance, and current practice relating to disability inclusion in tertiary education. Knowledge of, and a commitment to, the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) would be highly desirable.
You will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and disciplines. You will be organised, able to prioritise competing demands, and comfortable working to deadlines within a busy and dynamic student support environment. A strong commitment to equality, inclusion, and student-centred practice is essential.
