Senior Trial Manager

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Trial Manager to join the Pragmatic Clinical Trials Unit (PCTU), within the Centre for Evaluation and Methods at Queen Mary University of London. 

This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in the management and delivery of a high-profile clinical trial funded by the NIHR and a multidisciplinary research team. You will take strategic and operational responsibility for trial management oversight, ensuring the study is delivered to the highest standards of quality, regulatory compliance and scientific integrity.

You will oversee all aspects of trial coordination, from study set-up through to delivery and reporting. This includes supervising trial coordinators, managing trial processes and documentation, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory requirements. 

As part of the Senior Trial Management team, you will contribute to the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs), support resource planning and help foster a collaborative network across trial units. You will also represent the Trial Management function at key operational and management meetings. 

The role offers a dynamic and varied working environment, including opportunities to engage with clinical partners, contribute to study design, and influence the successful delivery of impactful research.

About You

You will hold a degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline and have substantial experience managing clinical trials, non-CTIMPS and ideally multi-centre CTIMPs. 

You will bring a strong understanding of clinical trial governance, including regulatory approvals, ethics submissions and the updated ICH-GCP requirements. Experience in developing trial protocols, SOPs and training research staff is essential.

You should have excellent organisational and leadership skills, ideally with experience of supervising or line managing staff. You will be confident working independently while managing multiple priorities and problem-solving in complex research environments.
