Research Assistant (0.4 FTE)

The Department of Culture, Communication and Media (CCM) is a department of UCLs Institute of Education. It is committed to excellence in teaching, research and consultancy in the areas of media and cultural studies, art, design and museology, academic writing, English education, applied linguistics, music education, multi-modality studies, learning with digital technologies.

CCM has an exciting research portfolio of projects funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, Economic and Social Research Council, Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, government and a variety of charities. It is home to one of the IOEs leading research units, the London Knowledge Lab, which investigates learning and teaching with digital technologies in a wide range of settings and provides innovative programmes at master’s and doctoral levels.

About the role

We are looking for a research assistant to conduct different research activities – for example, literature review and data generation through interviews, focus group, etc, and data analysis and manuscript preparation. This project will lay a foundation for understanding the problem of social and cultural change within digitalised research environments.

About you

You will be a doctoral researcher in the final stages of their doctoral studies, or close to completing; have knowledge and understanding of relevant ideas, concepts and approaches for understanding the relationship between technology, science and/or culture or society (e.g. science and technology studies, sociology of science and technology, critical infrastructure studies, higher education studies or similar).
