The Department of Culture, Communication and Media (CCM) is a department of UCLs Institute of Education. It is committed to excellence in teaching, research and consultancy in the areas of media and cultural studies, art, design and museology, academic writing, English education, applied linguistics, music education, multi-modality studies, learning with digital technologies.

CCM has an exciting research portfolio of projects funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, Economic and Social Research Council, Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, government and a variety of charities. It is home to one of the IOEs leading research units, the London Knowledge Lab, which investigates learning and teaching with digital technologies in a wide range of settings and provides innovative programmes at master’s and doctoral levels.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced researcher to provide research, contribute or lead significant elements of the Lab’s portfolio of externally funded work in education and technology, with a particular focus on the design, evaluation and policy around AI-based tools in education and other learning settings.

About you

You will have a doctorate in education, educational technology, human–computer interaction, psychology, social science or a cognate discipline or equivalent professional research experience. Post-doctoral research experience in education and technology, AI in education or closely related field. Track record of research outputs appropriate to the field including peer-reviewed publications and/or substantial research reports for policy or practice audiences.
