About the role
UCL School of Management Operations and Technology group is seeking a motivated, independent, and highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Fellow to contribute to a research agenda in the following two potential directions: • Led by Dr. Kenan Arifoglu, Dr. Aras Selvi: research on end-to-end synthetic data generation and decision making under uncertainty. The work will develop new methods for generating privacy-preserving data that remain useful for the operational decisions ultimately made from them, rather than treating data generation and decision making as separate stages. A particular focus will be on high-stakes healthcare settings, where sensitive data must support reliable planning, capacity, and resource-allocation decisions under uncertainty despite privacy restrictions. • Led by Dr. Yi-Chun Akchen and Dr. Mengzhenyu Zhang: projects on examining how firms, platforms, and market designers can use information and assortment strategically. Two related research projects are possible. The first project studies information disclosure combined with mechanism design in markets with private information. The second studies dynamic information and assortment policies in markets where customers arrive over time and do not observe the history of previous decisions. Both contribute to a broader understanding of how limited, carefully designed communication and menus can improve allocation, coordination, and revenue. This post is a fixed‑term, 12‑month contract. The role is based at the School’s Canary Wharf campus, and the start date is flexible, with appointments possible from January 2027.
