An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Collection Relocation Project Assistants to join the East Anglian Film Archive (EAFA) on the new 'Groundwork for Relocation’ project, delivered with the support of the BFI Screen Heritage Fund, awarding National Lottery funding.
As EAFA enters an exciting new chapter in its 50-year history, the archive will relocate from its current home at the Archive Centre in Norwich to the University of East Anglia campus, alongside other nationally significant collections. This major project will help ensure the long-term preservation and accessibility of the region’s film heritage and represents one of the largest archive relocation projects undertaken within the UK film archive sector.
You will support the relocation of EAFA’s film, video and associated archival holdings, working as part of a dedicated project team to prepare collections for transfer to their new home. Working closely with EAFA colleagues, UEA partners, volunteers and external contractors, you will also contribute to project documentation, knowledge-sharing activities and communications that capture and share learning from this significant archive move.
We are seeking individuals with excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately and methodically while managing competing priorities. Experience of working with collections in a museum, archive, library or similar environment would be advantageous, as would knowledge of film, video or digital media formats, collections management systems, or preservation practices.
There are two full-time posts available from 14 December 2026 on a fixed-term basis for 22 months.
We value diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive culture where everyone can thrive. We particularly welcome applicants with the protected characteristic of sex (female), and race (Black, Asian and minority ethnic) for this post, as they are currently underrepresented in this type of role within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. Appointment will be made on merit, and all applicants will be scored against the same criteria.
UEA offers a variety of flexible working options and although this role is advertised on a full-time basis, we encourage applications from individuals who would prefer a flexible working pattern including annualised hours, compressed working hours, part time, job share, term-time only and/or hybrid working. Details of preferred hours should be stated in the personal statement and will be discussed further at interview.
