About the role:
We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join an Airbus- and Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI)-funded project to develop data-driven modelling methods for next-generation hydrogen-powered commercial aircraft.
This post is one of three postdoctoral positions within the wider Airbus-ATI project developing computational and experimental methods to build interpretable models of the complex, nonlinear dynamic behaviour of fuel cells. These models will provide an in-depth understanding of fuel cell behaviour under different operating conditions, helping to improve design, control, performance, and reliability.
What you would be doing:
You will focus on developing nonlinear dynamic models of fuel cell electrochemistry and on identifying interpretable reduced-order models for fuel cell control using the Sparse Identification of Nonlinear Dynamics (SINDy) algorithm applied to numerical and experimental data. You will work closely with the Chemistry group of Prof Anthony Kucernak and the Mechanical Engineering group of Dr Ludovic Renson.
What we are looking for:
You should have a strong background in fuel cell systems and the numerical modelling of electrochemical systems, together with experience in machine learning and data-driven modelling.
Research Associate: Hold a PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline, or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience
Research Assistant: A first / masters degree (or equivalent) in Aerospace Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related discipline.
*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant.
