Senior Finance Officer

About the role

Applications are invited for a full-time Senior Finance Officer position to work with to work alongside colleagues to provide professional services to the Department.

This post is available from 4^th January 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. This post is a 1-year Fixed-Term contract.

About you

You will be an experienced finance professional with strong financial management and analytical skills, and the confidence to provide clear, practical advice to a wide range of colleagues. You’ll have experience of managing budgets, forecasting, reconciliations and financial reporting, ideally alongside experience of research funding or working within a complex organisation.

You’ll be highly organised and able to manage competing priorities, with excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to resolving financial queries and issues. You’ll enjoy working collaboratively with academic and professional services colleagues, building effective relationships and translating financial information into clear advice that supports good decision-making.

The role also requires strong communication, problem-solving and people-management skills, including experience of supporting and developing colleagues. You’ll be comfortable working independently, taking ownership of your area of responsibility, while also contributing positively to the wider professional services team.

You’ll be someone who takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work, improving processes where possible and providing a responsive and professional service to colleagues across the Department.
