The School of Humanities is home to a well-established BA (Hons) English Literature programme, with a Single Hons degree, as well as combined awards with Creative Writing and Film Studies.
The successful applicant will have expertise in pre-1800 English Literature, and be able to make a strong contribution to the English Literature team. You will have a track record commensurate to career stage in both teaching and research, including successful delivery of undergraduate teaching, both as a module leader and on team-taught modules.
The successful applicant will teach and assess the work of students on the BA English Literature programme, and on the MA Literature, Film, and Culture (subject to validation). You will supervise undergraduate- and potentially postgraduate- (Masters) level dissertations, depending on need, and act as Personal Academic Tutor to undergraduate students. You may also teach on the School of Humanities Foundation Year, depending on need.
The role-holder will be expected to teach pre-determined modules in the first term of employment, but will subsequently have opportunities to develop research-led teaching in their own areas of interest.
Please note that we would expect the successful candidate to commence their role in January 2027.
