University of the Arts London (UAL) is seeking an inspiring and experienced Industrial Design educator to take a leading role within our Product, Ceramic and Industrial Design Programme at Central Saint Martins (CSM).
This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape our MA Industrial Design Course. This course enables students to rethink what Industrial Design can be. It’s critical, collaborative and future focused.
As Course Leader, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the course, overseeing all aspects of teaching, learning and assessment. You will provide academic leadership for the programme, working closely with the Programme Director to ensure the course continues to remain on the cutting edge of Industrial Design practice. A key part of your role is to articulate a clear and compelling vision for the course, setting its direction and leading its ongoing development in line with the wider aims of the Programme and the University.
You will ensure the curriculum remains innovative, critically engaged and responsive to contemporary practice. This includes monitoring and enhancing the student experience, leading course development and improvement activities, and fostering a vibrant, inclusive and collaborative academic community that supports both staff and students.
About you
As a student-focused and industry minded designer and academic, you’ll be regarded as a leading authority within your own area. You will have an in depth understanding and personal experience of the relationship between design education and industry, both nationally and internationally.
As an experienced, creative and highly motivated academic, with an inventive approach to creating inclusive learning environments, you’ll be able to take up the challenge of enabling diverse student cohorts to explore and reinvent the discipline of Industrial Design at Central Saint Martins. You’ll foster new approaches to employability, community and design. Previous experience of delivering an Industrial Design course is essential.
