We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Research Assistant to join the Experimental and Clinical Sleep Medicine group within the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences. We conduct human experimental and clinical studies on sleep and disorders of sleep with the aim of understanding their pathophysiology and treatment. The post is funded by the Wellcome Trust Mental Health Award: looking backwards, moving forward - understanding how interventions for anxiety, depression, and psychosis work. The post holder will benefit from exciting opportunities for training and career development, which may prepare the post holder to apply for a PhD/DPhil.
The post holder will provide research support to a range of laboratory-based and experimental sleep/circadian intervention studies. Principal duties include: supporting participant recruitment and assessments; delivery of behavioural sleep and circadian interventions under clinical supervision; data collection, sleep scoring and analysis; scheduling and running lab-based and home-based studies of sleep and circadian rhythmicity; preparing manuscripts for publication; supporting patient and public involvement activities.
The successful candidate will hold an MSc (or equivalent) in psychology, neuroscience or a related discipline, with some relevant experience in sleep or circadian research. They will be able to manage their own research and administrative activities, have excellent communication and analytical skills, including experience using statistical software, and an interest in behavioural or psychological therapies. An interest in pursuing a DPhil/PhD in neuroscience and experience of working with clinical populations would be advantageous.
Informal enquiries are encouraged (Email:simon.kyle@ndcn.ox.ac.uk or Nicola.barclay@ndcn.ox.ac.uk).
