About the role
We are seeking a Teaching Fellow in Materials Chemistry to deliver campus-based teaching and assessment in core inorganic chemistry, alongside related elective modules. You will deliver lectures, seminars, tutorials and other classes, while contributing to continuous assessment, assignments and final examinations. You will provide constructive feedback and work closely with the programme team to ensure that module learning outcomes are achieved.
You will support students through Blackboard, discussion forums, email and regular office hours, maintain relevant online teaching materials and encourage active student participation. You will also collaborate with colleagues involved in co-teaching, contribute to course-delivery meetings and examination panels where appropriate, and ensure that teaching activities comply with relevant University, College and School policies and procedures.
About you
You will hold a PhD, or equivalent qualification, in materials chemistry or a closely related discipline, with evidence of excellence in the subject and the ability to teach materials chemistry across undergraduate levels. You will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate chemistry education, particularly physical chemistry, and hold a teaching qualification or HEA Fellowship, or be prepared to work towards one.
You will have experience of teaching or supervising undergraduate or postgraduate students, together with experience of developing blended or active-learning approaches and coordinating virtual learning environment or web-based activities. An understanding of educational provision and a commitment to delivering high-quality education are desirable.
