We have an exciting opportunity in the School of Chemical and Biological Engineering for a Technician to join our technical support team. We’re looking for a proactive individual to provide a comprehensive, responsive, and enthusiastic technical support service for staff, students and external customers across the School.
You will support the School’s teaching and research activities by providing an effective and efficient technical service in the fields of electronics, electrical design, repair and maintenance. This will include supporting undergraduate and postgraduate student projects as well as a range of academic research projects. You will adopt high working standards to ensure the Schools’ technical team continues to be recognized for its service excellence and exemplary Health and Safety record.
The successful candidate will have a Higher National Diploma in an Electronics or Electrical Engineering based subject (or have equivalent work-related experience in this field), with experience of providing effective and efficient technical support. You will have knowledge of safe working practices (including knowledge of COSHH), knowledge of furnaces (including the ability to diagnose issues and repair) as well as experience of designing, building, maintaining, repairing and modifying a range of technical equipment.
