Starting salary from £31,236 per annum, dependent on skills and experience, with an annual increment up to £37,694 per annum.
UEA has some of the most innovative and highly regarded centres for research in the UK. Applications are invited for the post of Senior Laboratory Research Technician to assist in the research under the supervision of Dr Penelope Pickers to work on the 'OXYMOBILE' and 'FOX-UK' NERC-funded projects.
These projects involve developing a mobile laboratory for high-precision measurements of atmospheric oxygen ('OXYMOBILE') and delivering new atmospheric oxygen measurements in Scotland ('FOX-UK') for quantifying UK fossil fuel CO2 emissions.
Key duties of the role include developing and operating novel high-precision atmospheric oxygen measurement instrumentation in the field and facilitating the smooth running and organisation of the UEA Atmospheric Oxygen Measurements (AOM) Laboratory in the School of Environmental Sciences (ENV). This is a specialised role due to the high level of technical expertise and knowledge required for precise atmospheric oxygen measurements.
Due to the nature of the role, previous experience working with specialist atmospheric measurement equipment instrumentation would be beneficial, as would previous experience of driving long-wheel base vehicles. Full details of the role, including the essential and desirable criteria can be found in the person specification within the candidate brochure.
This full-time post is available immediately on a fixed-term basis until 30 June 2028 with potential to extend, subject to available research funding.
UEA offers a variety of flexible working options and although this role is advertised on a full-time basis, we encourage applications from individuals who would prefer a flexible working pattern including annualised hours, compressed working hours, part time, job share, term-time only and/or hybrid working. Details of preferred hours should be stated in the personal statement and will be discussed further at interview.
Further information on our great benefits package, including 39 days annual leave inclusive of Bank Holidays and additional University Customary days (pro rata for part-time), can be found on our benefits page.
