Mary Immaculate College is an autonomous, university-level, Catholic College of Education and the Liberal Arts. Founded in 1898, and linked academically with the University of Limerick, MIC is the oldest higher education institution in Limerick. Significant expansion in recent decades has seen the College’s offerings expand across two modern campuses, one based in Limerick City and one in Thurles, Co. Tipperary. The student community consists of more than 5,000 learners, participating in fifteen undergraduate degree programmes and several postgraduate programmes extending to PhD/Doctoral level. Executive Dean of Education MIC Limerick Campus
Mary Immaculate College invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Executive Dean of Education. The appointment is a full-time, fixed-term post at Principal Lecturer (PL) level, for an initial term of five years. Following the initial term, a further term of five years may be available, subject to satisfactory performance.
The Executive Dean of Education is a senior, executive-level academic with Faculty-wide responsibility for academic strategy and identity, the integrity and renewal of the Faculty’s programme portfolio, the quality of the student experience, the fostering of a vibrant research culture, resource stewardship, the leadership of staff, and the Faculty’s external engagement, partnerships and internationalisation. Leading the largest Faculty in the College, the Executive Dean advances MIC’s distinctive mission in the formation of teachers and the education of children, rooted in the College’s civic and cultural commitments and its dedication to the Irish language.
The Executive Dean will provide strategic and academic leadership through a period of significant curricular and sectoral change, ensuring that the Faculty’s programmes, research and partnerships contribute coherently to the College’s Strategic Plan and to its status and standing within the higher education landscape. In addition to collaborative leadership that advances research, an excellent and inclusive student experience, and the wellbeing of staff and students, the Executive Dean will lead strategic and resource planning, consolidate and extend partnerships within and beyond the College, and represent the Faculty and the profession nationally and internationally.
