About us
Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement (P&A) raises philanthropic funds in support of King’s College London and engages with the university’s worldwide alumni community. We are proud to enable the work of colleagues across the university and its health partners, helping them serve society through world-leading education, research and healthcare. Our activity includes a partnership with the Maudsley Charity in support of children’s mental health and initiatives between the university’s Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience and the South London & Maudsley NHS Trust.
We are entering an exciting period as a team. Our work is identified as a key enabler of the new King’s Strategy 2030, with associated ambitions that include preparing for our next major philanthropic and engagement campaign. This will accelerate and energise our work in support of the University’s mission to be ‘in service to society through academic excellence’ – be that through exceptional, impact-led research; ensuring our students are supported to thrive during their time at King’s and beyond; or by helping the university to invest over the long-term into its people, ideas and infrastructure. We plan to deepen and scale engagement with our global alumni community, donors and other supporters, mobilising them behind these shared priorities. We are strongly values-driven with a focus on sustaining a strong and supportive culture, which we see as key to creating a successful team that can realise these ambitions.
About the role
Alumni have a unique and powerful role to play in the development of the King’s student and recent graduate experience. Many know firsthand that success after university is about more than just disciplinary expertise - it’s about networks, opportunities, and the ability to translate learning into action. At King’s, Strategy 2030 sets out bold ambitions to increase opportunities for our alumni to contribute to our student's success and we’re looking for an ambitious Alumni Engagement Officer to develop our recent graduate engagement programme.
Leading a portfolio of events, webinars and volunteering opportunities, as Alumni Engagement Officer you will engage alumni with our student audience, develop a compelling student to graduate transition, and shape the new graduate experience. You will create meaningful opportunities for alumni to contribute. Their insight, networks and professional experience can help students thrive, nurture graduate ambition and foster a shared sense of community that connects King’s people long after graduation.
Working closely with colleagues across the university, the postholder creates meaningful opportunities for alumni to connect. This includes leading our popular How To... event series, engaging alumni with KCLSU groups and societies, manging a portfolio of alumni relationships, and developing activity with King’s Student Experience teams. You will oversee the student-to-graduate transition, leading our alumni engagement presence at graduation including recruiting alumni speakers, developing a welcoming presence at the fair, and delivering campaigns that welcome new graduates into our community.
As an exceptional relationship builder, you’ll use communication skills and a high level of cultural competency, combined with the ability to rigorously plan to deliver a diverse portfolio of activities. As we launch our Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement Campaign in 2027, this is an exciting time for a creative, ambitious alumni officer to join the team!
