The University of Huddersfield is a thriving university with a modern campus, a diverse student community and a commitment to transforming lives through inspiring education, pioneering research and international engagement. Our teaching excellence is recognised through Gold ratings in all three aspects of the Teaching Excellence Framework, while our apprenticeship provision is graded Outstanding by Ofsted. We have also been named University of the Year for Degree Apprenticeships in the Daily Mail University Guide 2027. With more than £150m invested in our estate over the last ten years, we provide outstanding facilities and learning environments that help our students realise their potential.
This is an exciting time for Huddersfield as we continue to transform the University academically, financially and physically. Our Strategy 2030 sets out our ambition to become a globally recognised university, preparing graduates for successful careers and expanding opportunities through international partnerships. We are now seeking a new Pro Vice Chancellor (PVC) Teaching and Learning who will share this ambition and play a central role in its delivery.
As a member of the senior leadership team, the PVC will lead the strategic direction and operational management of teaching and learning, alongside enhancing the wider student experience. Building on our established strengths, you will work closely with colleagues in the Schools, students and external partners to champion innovative curricula, inclusive teaching and the effective and responsible use of digital technologies, including artificial intelligence. You will put the student voice at the heart of continuous improvement, uphold academic quality and standards, and provide strategic oversight of our transnational education and international academic partnerships.
The ideal candidate will bring significant senior academic leadership experience, a distinguished record of research and scholarly activity, and a demonstrated ability to integrate research and teaching. You will have a strong track record of leading change and innovation in curriculum development, delivery and assessment, alongside experience of international academic partnerships or collaborative provision. An inspiring and approachable leader, you will combine strategic vision with the ability to build effective relationships, manage resources and translate ideas into action. Above all, you will be committed to working in partnership with students and colleagues to advance academic excellence, inclusion and student success.
