About us
UCL Careers supports students and recent graduates to make informed career decisions, develop their skills and navigate an increasingly complex global labour market. Alongside university-wide provision, we partner with academic departments to deliver tailored careers and employability support.
This role sits within the UCL School of Management, one of the UK’s leading business and management schools, with over 2,000 students and particular strengths in innovation, technology, business analytics and entrepreneurship. As the School continues to grow, we are seeking a careers professional with specialist knowledge to support postgraduate students pursuing careers across technology, data, AI, business analytics and marketing science.
About the role
As Careers Consultant: Technology & Analytics Specialist, you will lead careers support for students interested in these sectors, working collaboratively with Careers Consultants and Employer Engagement colleagues to deliver a comprehensive careers and professional development programme.
Through workshops, group sessions, one-to-one coaching and application support, you will help students explore career pathways, develop career management skills and prepare for competitive recruitment processes.
You will bring specialist insight into the technology and analytics labour market, helping students understand employer expectations and opportunities across roles such as Data Scientist, Data Engineer, Business Intelligence Analyst, Business Analyst and Analytics Consultant.
You will use labour-market information, graduate outcomes and student insight to shape careers activity, maintain up-to-date knowledge of sector recruitment practices, and build relationships with academic colleagues, employers and other stakeholders to embed employability support across the School.
About you
You may have experience in university careers and employability, recruitment, talent development, coaching or industry, with a strong understanding of careers across technology, data and analytics.
You will understand the evolving graduate market, including AI, machine learning, big data and data science, and be able to explain different career pathways and the skills employers seek.
You will enjoy supporting students from diverse backgrounds, building rapport, delivering effective one-to-one coaching and translating specialist knowledge into engaging careers education for groups.
You will be confident building stakeholder relationships, using data and evidence to evaluate impact, and managing projects and competing priorities. You will also be curious about emerging technologies and committed to developing your professional knowledge.
Knowledge of technical recruitment methods, such as coding assessments, case interviews and portfolio reviews, or tools including SQL, Python, Power BI, Tableau, Google Analytics or Salesforce, would be advantageous but is not essential.
A professional qualification in careers and employability is desirable. Applicants without one are welcome, provided they are willing to work towards an approved qualification once in post.
Our commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
As London’s Global University, we know diversity fosters creativity and innovation. We are committed to equality of opportunity, to being fair and inclusive, and to being a place where we all belong.
We particularly encourage applications from candidates underrepresented in UCL’s workforce, including those from Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds, disabled people, and – for Grade 9 and 10 roles – women.
