Role Description
The Centre for Reviews and Dissemination (CRD) at the University of York is recruiting a Grade 6 or Grade 7 Research Fellow in Health Economics.
CRD is a world-leading academic research department specialising in evidence synthesis and health technology assessment (HTA). Our work spans a broad range of health and public health areas, providing high-quality evidence to inform national policy and practice decisions.
The successful candidate will work primarily within our Technology Assessment Review (TAR) programme, undertaking research to support National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) decision-making as part of the York External Assessment Group (EAG). You will also contribute to our NIHR Evidence Synthesis Group (ESG) programme and broader health economic modelling projects across CRD, with scope to develop your own research interests.
We welcome applications from candidates with a relevant Master’s degree and/or PhD (or equivalent experience) in health economics or another quantitative discipline, such as applied statistics or mathematics. Candidates must possess strong quantitative skills, a comprehensive knowledge of health economics and cost-effectiveness analysis, and a good understanding of HTA, systematic reviews, and meta-analysis.
Candidates applying for Grade 7 must additionally have experience of critiquing, conceptualising, and constructing health economic decision models in an HTA context, as well as proven ability to lead research elements and supervise early-career researchers. Familiarity with UK health systems and research funding is desirable. Further training and career development will be supported.
CRD offers a friendly, supportive environment and holds a Silver Athena SWAN award. We embrace hybrid and flexible working (minimum 0.8 FTE / 4 days per week). This is an open-ended, full-time position. We actively encourage applications from underrepresented groups, particularly Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic candidates.
Please state on your application whether you are applying for Grade 6 or Grade 7.
Interview date: To be confirmed.
Informal enquiries: Contact Matthew Walton (matthew.walton@york.ac.uk), Ash Bullement (ash.bullement@york.ac.uk), or Professor Sofia Dias (sofia.dias@york.ac.uk).
The University strives to be diverse and inclusive – a place where we can ALL be ourselves.
We particularly encourage applications from people who identify as Black, Asian or from a Minority Ethnic background, who are underrepresented at the University.
We offer family friendly, flexible working arrangements, with forums and inclusive facilities to support our staff. #EqualityatYork
