About the Role
We are seeking a Research Assistant to support the process evaluation of a cluster randomised controlled trial evaluating the effectiveness of community appointment days vs. standard physiotherapy for people with musculoskeletal conditions. Working within a multidisciplinary research team, you will contribute to the delivery of a mixed-methods study investigating the implementation and impact of the intervention across participating sites.
The role will involve approaching and recruiting participants, obtaining informed consent, coordinating data collection, administering surveys, and conducting qualitative interviews with healthcare staff and patients. You will support the management and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, including producing descriptive statistics from survey responses and coding interview transcripts. You will also contribute to study reports, conference presentations, and peer-reviewed publications.
The successful candidate will have excellent organisational and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and an interest in health services research. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience across the full research cycle, from study delivery and data collection through to analysis and dissemination.
About You
You will hold an undergraduate degree and a postgraduate qualification in a relevant field such as implementation sciences, psychology, or social sciences, or have equivalent research experience. You will have experience supporting research projects and an interest in musculoskeletal conditions and implementation science.
Strong organisational and communication skills are essential, alongside the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, including people with musculoskeletal conditions, clinicians, researchers and policymakers.
Knowledge of research governance processes (e.g. ethics, data protection, Good Clinical Practice) is essential. Experience of public and patient involvement is desirable.
