About us

Research and innovation are at the heart of King’s College London’s mission to make a positive difference in the world. The Research Management & Innovation Directorate (RMID) leads this ambition by shaping and enabling the university’s research and innovation agenda and creating an environment in which researchers, professional staff and doctoral students can excel. This work is guided by King’s Strategy 2030, which emphasises academic excellence, real-world impact and a culture in which research and innovation can thrive.

The Department of Research Governance, Ethics and Integrity (RGEI) supports safe, ethical, lawful and responsible research across King’s. Its new Research Security team brings together work on research security, Trusted Research, compliance, due diligence and international regulatory requirements. The team develops proportionate, risk-based processes, guidance and support that help researchers manage regulatory and reputational risks while enabling valuable research and global collaboration

About the role

As Research Compliance Officer (Due Diligence), you will support the delivery of King’s research due diligence and compliance activities. Acting as a central point for enquiries, you will triage and coordinate requests relating to third party organisations and research collaborations, gather and validate information, undertake background checks and maintain accurate records and audit trails. You will help ensure that reviews progress efficiently, consistently and in line with institutional procedures and funder requirements.

You will coordinate the University’s response to NHS R&D governance audit findings raised by NHS Trust King’s Health Partners. This will include logging and communicating findings, maintaining action plans, monitoring progress and escalating issues where required. More broadly, you will also support coordination of external funder research audits and assurance reviews, and help improve the processes, systems, guidance and reporting used to support their effective delivery.

Working closely with the Research Security & Compliance Manager and colleagues across the new Research Security team, you will support the delivery of the University’s work under the UK Trusted Research framework, alongside wider research compliance activity. You will provide clear guidance to researchers and professional services colleagues, build effective relationships across teams including Procurement, Contracts, Finance and other research support teams, and escalate complex or high-risk matters to the appropriate specialist.

This is a varied role requiring strong organisation, analysis and communication, together with sound judgement and close attention to detail. You will be expected to manage competing priorities, handle sensitive information appropriately and contribute to proportionate, efficient and researcher-focused compliance support.

This full-time position (35 hours per week) is based at Lavington Street when campus working is required and follows the University’s hybrid working model.
