About us
UCL is a world-leading research-intensive university. Our Research and Innovation Services (RIS) directorate supports researchers throughout the research lifecycle, providing specialist advice on funding, collaborations and contracts.
Within RIS, the Contract Services team manages research and innovation agreements, enabling collaboration while ensuring compliance with relevant policies, regulations and funder requirements.
About the role
We are seeking a Contracts Officer to join our Contract Services team, supporting UCL's research activities through the drafting, review and negotiation of research-related agreements.
You will manage a portfolio of contracts, including Material Transfer Agreements, Data Sharing Agreements and Confidentiality Agreements, advising on contractual risks, protecting intellectual property interests and negotiating appropriate terms.
Working with academics and professional services colleagues, you will maintain accurate records using Worktribe and contribute to improving contracting processes.
The role is based at UCL's Bloomsbury Campus, with hybrid working available.
About you
We are looking for an organised, proactive individual with a relevant degree or equivalent qualification and an understanding of contractual principles and risks.
You will have knowledge of intellectual property, confidentiality, publication rights, liabilities and indemnities, alongside strong communication, negotiation and organisational skills.
You should be confident managing competing priorities, exercising sound judgement and building effective relationships with stakeholders.
Experience in research contracts, research funding or research support within higher education or a commercial research environment would be advantageous. A professional legal qualification, or progress towards one, is desirable.
What we offer
UCL offers a competitive benefits package, including 41 days' holiday (including bank holidays and closure days), a pension scheme, enhanced family leave, an employee assistance programme and a range of staff discounts and wellbeing benefits.
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
UCL is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and welcomes applications from all backgrounds. We particularly encourage applications from groups currently underrepresented in our workforce.
