Surrey Business School is an internationally connected, research-led business school. Guided by ‘Incubating Vibrant Futures 2024–2030’, we bring together progressive education, transformational research and meaningful engagement with business, policy and society.

The School is accredited by AACSB, AMBA and the Small Business Charter, and holds an Advance HE Athena SWAN Bronze Award. In the Shanghai Global Rankings 2026, it ranks among the world’s top 75 for Management and top 100 for Business Administration. In REF 2021, Surrey Business School ranked 19th in the UK overall, 10th for research outputs and 16th for research impact.

Located in Guildford, we combine a distinctive campus setting with close access to London and the South East’s business and innovation ecosystem. Our relationships with employers, entrepreneurs, policymakers and international partners connect learning and research to real organisational challenges and emerging opportunities, providing a strong foundation for the B-Clinic.

The B-Clinic

Our Business Clinic, the B-Clinic, connects students and academics with businesses, start-ups and entrepreneurs to address real organisational challenges. Live consultancy projects in undergraduate and postgraduate learning help students apply their knowledge, develop professional judgement and leadership, and demonstrate their value to employers, while delivering useful outcomes for partners.

The role

We are seeking a B-Clinic Lead for an 18-month fixed-term appointment. This academic appointment will reflect your qualifications and relevant experience. You will shape experiential learning across the School and build lasting connections between business practice and academic education.

You will develop business partnerships and well-scoped client projects across the broad business subjects. Working with module and programme teams, you will support curriculum and assessment design around genuine business needs, maximising impact and the student experience. You will coordinate delivery, student preparation, client engagement and feedback; and support students, referring them to specialist services when needed.

The role supports our student experience and employability enhancement programme by improving the relevance, organisation and support of experiential learning. You will establish impact tracking to quantify businesses engaged, problems addressed, value created for partners, and student benefits, including skills, confidence and employability; in so doing you will establish an operating model and evidence base to guide the B-Clinic’s next phase.

About you

You will bring strong industry connections and a sound understanding of experiential or work-based learning. You will be able to engage businesses and academics, translate business challenges into purposeful learning, and demonstrate strong communication, organisational and impact-evaluation skills. Relevant experience may come from industry, professional practice or higher education.

You will bring a record of independently coordinating business partnerships and experiential or work-based learning, with evidence of effective delivery and evaluation, sharing good practice and use current business knowledge and relevant scholarship to improve learning.
