The Knowledge Exchange activity at Edinburgh Napier University has been assessed as 'internationally excellent' and 'world-leading', giving us a top position among Scotland's Modern universities for both commercial relevance and impact.
Currently, we are partnering with Approov Limited, a Scottish cybersecurity company that provides end-to-end mobile app and API protection, to recruit two KTP Associates in Cybersecurity/Cryptography Security, who will have the opportunity to take on essential work embedding cutting-edge academic expertise to develop a next-generation, binary-to-binary application protection framework.
The role:
The KTP Associates on this project will be a crucial part of the team and with a background in Computer Science/Engineering area and experience of successful implementation of software projects, you will be in an excellent position to carry out coding within relevant cryptographic areas to help us with implementation and evaluation of this new software.
We expect that you will have a passion for cryptography and a keen interest in the implementation of new products and services in this space, and this role will allow you to collaborate with researchers from the Blockpass ID Lab to develop code in respect to the analysis of cryptography methods.
Your excellent communication and report writing skills will also come in useful as you present your work to external stakeholders in the form of presentations and reports and attend project meetings.
This is a unique chance for you to get involved in the exciting, and somewhat unique opportunity that a Knowledge Exchange Partnership provides a graduate, to work within a fast-moving business like Approov, while also maintaining access to the research environment of the University.
We have two posts available, one post on our “Blue” team who will take responsibility for developing advanced app defences using cryptographic methods (e.g., Post Quantum Cryptography and homomorphic encryption) and integrating them into new and existing Approov products.
The other post on our “Red” team will establish an Advanced Threat Testbed (based on models like MITRE ATT&CK) with an AI-driven toolchain for static and dynamic app and API interrogation, allowing Approov to stress-test their products in a continuous cycle, ensuring maximum resilience against new and zero-day threats.
If you have a passion and desire to make a positive difference in this area and have the appropriate skills to carry out the role, then we would love to hear from you.
