The University of Surrey is looking for two talented communicators to tell our great stories through the media. You’ll be excited at the opportunity to find and tell stories that promote the University of Surrey’s areas of global research expertise through local, national and international media. A strong writer and natural relationship builder, you’ll also bring your own media contacts, and the capacity to build new ones.

The roles will also have the opportunity to promote some of the University’s corporate strengths – including the employability of our graduates, the innovative nature of our teaching and the economic and societal impact of our research across the board.
There will never be a dull day here. You’ll be joining at an exciting time – as we deliver a new communications strategy designed to position Surrey as the “go to” source of expert insight in our areas of greatest strength, in support of our new corporate strategy. We’re also launching two new specialist research institutes. And there are many other exciting opportunities on the horizon.
In addition to using your experience and contacts to directly deliver great multichannel communications campaigns and coverage, you’ll also have the skills and confidence to influence, advise and upskill academic and other colleagues across the University to use the media to achieve their communication objectives.
The Communications and PR team you’ll be a part of works across the University and leads on staff and student communications, strategic communications, media relations, social media, public affairs and public engagement. Its focus is on engaging and informing our staff and student communities, raising the profile of the institution, supporting and protecting its reputation, and managing crises and issues as they arise.
The interviews are anticipated to be held on 16th or 17th December 2021.
