International Support Officer

Are you an office administrator looking for an exciting new role? Do you have experience in an internationally-focused environment and the enthusiasm to provide high class support to our recruitment activities for international students?

This is a varied role within a busy team and you will be expected to undertake a wide range of tasks in the support of our network of overseas representatives. You will be organised and adept at juggling responsibilities whilst maintaining accuracy in your work and meeting deadlines.

As International Support Officer you will:

  • Contribute to the recruitment of international students, including building relationships and detailed knowledge of key overseas markets, building up expert cultural knowledge and market intelligence.
  • Maximise international student recruitment and profile raising opportunities for the University.
  • In conjunction with other members of IR, actively manage the admissions and support of international students, including communicating with enquirers, applicants and academic colleagues to achieve high rates of conversion to registration.
  • Take responsibility for co-ordinating logistical arrangements for staff travelling overseas on behalf of International Recruitment.

To succeed in this role you will need:

  • Previous experience working/studying in an internationally focused environment.
  • Recent office experience gained in a busy working environment.
  • Previous experience of maintaining records/databases.
  • The ability to multi-task and juggle many responsibilities.
  • The ability to empathise with a broad client group particularly with respect to people from a wide range of countries/cultures.
  • Outstanding communication skills, written and verbal.

International Recruitment

International Recruitment is responsible for:

  • The recruitment of overseas i.e. non-EU students, currently around 17% of the full-time student body;
  • The development and support of the University’s International Recruitment Strategy;
  • The support for the development of programmes for overseas students;
  • In collaboration with other professional services, the induction and welfare of overseas students at the University; and the promotion of the University’s image overseas and raising our international esteem profile.
