Project Finance Analyst: EU ERDF

Overview Of Role

An opportunity currently exists for a EU-ERDF Projects Analyst to join the finance team to provide project accounting and forecasting for externally funded projects (both National and EU) within the Institute.

Reporting to the Project Finance Manager, the EU-ERDF Analyst plays an important role in helping our Science Project Leaders ensure they and the Institute are complying with sponsor rules for each specific type of funding source.  As EU-ERDF Project Finance Analyst you will manage a number of grants on a day-to-day basis, ensuring financial control for all projects and validating maximisation of fund recovery together with supporting Scientists regarding grant applications and the processes surrounding them.

The successful candidate will be AAT qualified / CCAB-CIMA part-qualified / QBE with strong project accounting experience and analytical/ problem solving skills; working knowledge of financial accounting and reporting systems is a prerequisite.

Ideally you will have held a similar appointment within research development/support, preferably in the HEI sector.  You will be able to demonstrate practical experience of facilitating collaboration and developing financial support for high profile academic multi-partner research grant applications.  You will have excellent communication, organisational and team working skills.  Attention to detail, together with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines is also essential.  Knowledge of UK and EU funding guidelines is required.

Whilst the role is predominantly EU-ERDF focussed, the successful candidate will also have responsibility for UK Research Council grants.

You will have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and will have intermediate/ advanced Excel skills

This appointment is a full-time position initially fixed for 3 years.
