Outreach Administration Assistant

University of Kent - Partnership Development Office

We are currently seeking an administrator with demonstrable experience of working in an office environment. In addition to this, applicants should have good knowledge and understanding of the issues surrounding widening participation in Higher Education.

Within this role you will be responsible for the daily management of the Medway Partnership Development Office. This role is key to the running of the office and for delivering administrative support for outreach work in Medway. You will be the main contact for PDO administrative requirements in Medway and be the main point of contact for Medway related queries from PDO staff and Student Ambassadors.

You must be capable of working independently whilst following management direction, and must be capable of working in an office which can at times be busy and full of staff, and at other times you will be the only member of staff in the office on a given day.

As Outreach Administration Assistant you will:

  • be responsible for daily management of the Medway PDO Office, ensuring appropriate levels of stock and resources and being the main point of contact for Medway PDO queries;
  • provide administrative support for Medway-based PDO outreach activities;
  • coordinate and arrange minute taking for termly Medway outreach meetings;
  • oversee and recruit Student Ambassadors in Medway to support departmental delivery.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • ECDL or equivalent IT qualification or experience;
  • demonstrable experience of working in an administrative capacity in an office environment;
  • flexibility and the ability to respond positively to changing priorities in the work place;
  • ability to use initiative, working under pressure and to work effectively while coping with frequent interruptions.

Partnership Development Office
The Partnership Development Office (PDO) is responsible for supporting the implementation of the University’s widening participation strategy and for developing partnerships in the region, with a particular focus on sub-regional partnerships, in support of this strategy. The Partnership Development Office is part of the EMS comprising the Recruitment and Admissions Office, the Publishing Office and the Scholarships and Foreign Loans Office.
