Senior Teaching Fellow (Strategic Lead)

The Department of Chemical Engineering has an international reputation for excellence in its teaching and research. We are the longest established and 2nd largest chemical engineering department in the UK and rank ninth in the global QS World University Rankings. The topics we are interested in reach from biotechnology to new materials and energy engineering.  Overall, we employ over 45 academic staff members, 122 postdoctoral research scientists and have 233 PhD students, 105 MSc Students, and over 500 Undergraduate Students.

We are now hoping to recruit two enthusiastic individuals with appropriate disciplinary experience and educational qualification and expertise to lead a fundamental review of the Department’s taught programmes and help introduce innovative forms of pedagogy.

You will be responsible for leading the review and redesign of the Department’s undergraduate curricula, liaising between the department curriculum review and design team/committee, Imperial’s EDU and strategic teaching fellows from other disciplinary areas and working with a wide range of colleagues, students and external stakeholders to develop and promote innovative curriculum design and delivery.

You will take responsibility for working with colleagues to support them in the introduction of innovative curriculum design and delivery utilising more interactive teaching methods, increased use of technology enhanced learning, inclusive and authentic learning and assessment and greater integration of Imperials research community to increase learning by discovery. The intention is to update disciplinary curricula, aligning them with Imperial’s new learning and teaching strategy and undergraduate or postgraduate attributes and propagating and promoting STEM teaching expertise and excellence across the institution and beyond.

You will have a first degree and postgraduate qualification (or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering and a Master’s level teaching qualification (or equivalent) in Higher Education.  Further details are available in the job description.
