Data Protection and Information Compliance Officer

The University of Buckingham is seeking to recruit a Data Protection and Information Compliance Officer.  The post-holder will be responsible for establishing a strategic approach to data protection and information management across the University’s academic activities and professional services.

The post-holder will be responsible for leading the University’s preparations for compliance with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and will be responsible for overseeing the use of data and records management across the University and for providing appropriate advice to ensure compliance with data protection legislation. The post holder will also lead on the University’s work to formalise processes and procedures to ensure the accuracy and completeness of public information.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of current UK data protection legislation and the requirements of the GDPR and will have experience of working on data protection and statutory compliance in a Higher Education Institution (HEI) or a similar organisation.  A working knowledge of the requirements of the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) and the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) in respect of information relating to HE provision is desirable. First class oral and written communication skills are essential, together with a track record in change management.
