IT Business Partner

University of Reading - Information Technology

The University of Reading has embarked on a multi-year programme to introduce new ways of working and to increase efficiency and effectiveness across the University partly through the use of new improved integrations and processes. The University is looking for someone to join a dynamic Business Partner team to help to embed this work. The main purpose of the role is;

  • Establish and develop effective professional relationships with senior managers across the University and others as appropriate, providing specialist advice and guidance on the range of products and services provided by Information Technology.
  • Assist with the ongoing development, implementation and embedding of the IT Strategy, supporting the University Strategy, within your specified areas of responsibility.
  • Liaise closely with the appropriate IT delivery teams to ensure the provision of customer focused services to your specified areas of responsibility
  • Work with business stakeholders to define business requirements and their opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure customers are fully briefed about changes in IT regulations, policy and standards
  • Take responsibility for negotiation, review and agreement of SLAs with Information Technology
  • Collaborate with both Information Technology and customers in your area of responsibility to align and prioritize initiatives according to business and organisational needs
  • Any other duties as may be assigned reasonably by the Assistant Directors or Director of Information Technology.

You will have:

  • The ability to communicate and liaise with a wide cross section of people from across the business
  • Experience of all stages of the IT development lifecycle
  • Excellent Stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • A systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving

Ability to work with all levels within the organisation, including senior management and executives.
