Senior Research Laboratory Facilities Support Officer

University of Oxford - Department of Oncology

Old Road Campus Research Building

An excellent opportunity has arisen at the Department of Oncology for a Senior Research Laboratory Facilities Support Officer to join the Building and Facilities team. You will support the Building and Facilities Manager to ensure that first class research support is maintained within the Department of Oncology.

You will provide day-to-day, front-line general support, respond to enquiries and be responsible for resolving practical and technical issues. You will manage defined areas of research laboratory service provision and exercise judgement in reporting back to or in bringing specific issues to the attention of the Building and Facilities Manager.

The ability to collate and analyse data, using pertinent information to draft reports and to direct evolving protocols within a dynamic environment will be essential. The post holder will support the Building and Facilities Manager in developing routine service provision and in contributing ideas and gathering supporting materials or data for specialist projects.

Reporting to the Building and Facilities Manager, the post will be based primarily within the Radiobiology Research Institute (RRI), the Old Road Campus Research Building (ORCRB), PET Radiopharmacy (PROx) or the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine (WIMM) but it is likely the post holder will work at other departmental locations within the department’s hospital space.

You will be educated to at least A-level standard or equivalent, preferably in a science subject. You will have experience in a practical research or hospital laboratory environment, including front-line troubleshooting. Excellent communication skills are essential, as is knowledge of current Health & Safety requirements within a practical research environment. You will also be able to demonstrate a ‘can do’ attitude as part of a team.

This is a full-time post and is available for three years.

All applicants must complete a short application form and upload a CV and supporting statement.

The closing date for applications is noon on Wednesday 4 April 2018.

Interviews are scheduled for Tuesday 17 April 2018.
