Impact Officer (Mathematical Sciences) Grade 7 (Full or Part-Time)

University of Liverpool - Faculty of Science and Engineering - School of Physical Sciences - Department of Mathematical Sciences

The position is available from 1 June 2018 until 31 May 2021.

We are seeking to appoint an Impact Officer to support the development of non-academic impact across the Department. This includes the enhancement of existing impact cases for submission to the next Research Excellence Framework (REF). You will report primarily to the department impact leads, the Head of Department, as well as individual academic staff involved in impact generation. You will have (or be about to obtain) a PhD in Mathematical Sciences or a related discipline with experience of research in a STEM subject and an awareness of the research environment in the mathematical sciences. Experience of engagement with industry and/or public-sector organisations is expected and prior experience of REF impact cases would be advantageous.

You will work closely with Faculty REF co-ordinators and Business Gateway, and you will familiarise yourself with university processes, the requirements of REF and the details of a good impact case in mathematical sciences. You will have the interpersonal skills to be able to confidently explain research to a wide range of audiences and to be able to push the impact agenda within the department.

The School of Physical Sciences is an Athena SWAN Silver Award holder and is committed to encouraging, developing and supporting women in their research and academic careers. We are working to create an inclusive environment which values a diverse workforce and we recognise that many individuals value flexibility in their work/life balance, therefore this post may be taken up on a Part-Time (a minimum of 0.5 FTE) or Full-Time basis (including a Job Share).
