An exciting opportunity has become available at the FIMRIB Centre within the Analysis Research Group: The FMRIB Centre Analysis Group conducts research in methods and modelling of brain imaging data, including functional MRI, diffusion MRI, structural MRI, EEG, and more recently MEG data. The members of the Analysis group have developed the widely used FMRIB Software Library (FSL) package, which enables the methods created within FMRIB to have a worldwide impact on the neuroimaging community.

The successful applicant will work with the FSL development team, implementing new functionality in FSL, enhancing build/test systems and maintaining the existing codebase. This will also involve interacting with FSL users, both within FMRIB and from the wider neuroimaging community, to resolve issues arising from analysis and software use.

The duties will include software development such as implementing new features and resolving operational problems within the FMRIB Software Library; system development which will involve adding to the build/test framework used to create FSL and verify its correct operation and software support which will include resolving analysis issues from FSL users.

The successful applicant will possess (or be near to completion of) a relevant doctoral degree, most likely one of mathematical engineering, electrical engineering, applied mathematics, computer science, physics, statistics or image processing with strong experience of programming in Python. Familiarity with the GIT version control system and experience with programming in C or C++ is desirable. A background in collaborative software development and experience in statistical analysis would be advantageous. Strong written and oral English communication and the ability to work closely with others is essential.

The post is full-time for a fixed-term of 2 years in the first instance.
