Christ Church seeks a highly experienced and talented Organist and Official Student (College Fellow) in Music, with effect from 1 September 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter.  This is a unique opportunity to join the Christ Church community in role that spans both the College and the Cathedral.

The successful candidate will hold the College post of Organist, which will entail the rehearsal, direction, administration, and overall responsibility for the Cathedral Choir. In addition, they will work closely with the directors of the girls’ choir (Frideswide Voices), the Cathedral Singers, and the College Choir.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate a distinguished record of organ performance and choral direction at a level appropriate to the stage of their careers. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the Cathedral Chapter and Christ Church Cathedral School in the planning and delivery of the Cathedral’s music.

The Organist is also a member of the Governing Body (i.e., the Trustees) of Christ Church, which like other Oxford colleges is a registered charity. They will also attend meetings of the Cathedral Chapter and of the Governors of the Cathedral School and will be expected to take an active role in the administration of Christ Church by sitting on other college and Cathedral committees.

The post is offered on a permanent and full-time basis (37.5 hours per week). The salary will be on a scale from £52,815 - £70,918 per annum, current rates); an Official Studentship Allowance of £4,370 per annum, plus other benefits as specified in the Further Particulars.
