Estates and Campus Services, UECS
The Estates and Campus Services teams deliver a wide range of services for the University from catering to sports facilities, from accommodation to grounds maintenance, and from estates management to the luxury hotel, Wivenhoe House. Our teams aim to deliver a professional and seamless service to students, staff and visitors.
This role is part of/subject to an organisational restructure which is still, at this time, under consultation.
Duties of the Role
The successful person will be required to motivate a team of cleaners in our academic buildings and ensure they are aware of where they need to be focussing their work. This will include both cleaning and waste disposal duties. You will also be expected to carry out individual cleaning duties and cover absent staff. Working closely with the Team Clean Manager to ensure that cleaning materials are ordered. You will also assist the Residential Team Clean Supervisor in the cleaning of our accommodation building.
Skills and qualifications
You must have the ability to undertake domestic cleaning to a high standard with good communication skills, a positive attitude to delivering good customer service and a flexible approach to work. You will ideally have an understanding of any Health and Safety information and guidance, in order to carry out the safe use of chemical and equipment, however this is not essential as training will be provided. You will ideally have experience of leading a team.
It is important that you are able to undertake physical aspects of the post, and can fulfil the staff vetting requirements in respect of the University Positions of Trust. You will have a flexible and positive approach to work, with a professional manner.
Working Pattern
38 hours per week. The current working pattern is 5:45am – 2pm Monday – Thursday and 05:45 – 13:15 Friday.
In the interests of working efficiency, the University may from time to time review current working patterns. Hours may be required to be worked within the operational window of 5.15am to 8pm, 5 days in 7 days. Changes to working patterns resulting from this will be subject to a minimum of 21 calendar days' notice.
