The Estates and Campus Services teams deliver a wide range of services for the University from catering to sports facilities, from accommodation to grounds maintenance, and from estates management to the luxury hotel, Wivenhoe House. Our teams aim to deliver a professional and seamless service to students, staff and visitors. This role is part of/subject to an organisational restructure which is still, at this time, under consultation.
Duties of the Role
The successful person will be responsible for the delivery of cleaning across 3 sites in Southend and 2 sites in Loughton. Although primarily located in our Southend City Centre site, this person will be required to occasionally travel to our Loughton site, which they will also manage (travel expenses paid).
The successful person will manage all cleaning and housekeeping staff using the universities staff management system (training given) and strategically plan the cleaning of our estate, and ensure that this is being done to a high standard. You will be responsible for the health and safety of staff and will respond to urgent requirements for cleaning on the estate. You will also carry out the ordering of materials for cleaning on the university procurement system (full training given). Communicating with students and other staff, you will also (along with others) keep student residents aware of activities on site and communicate any key information to them. This is a truly diverse role, working with and assisting other departments, this role would suit someone who likes to multitask and likes to be a key person in their organisation.
Skills and qualifications required
The successful person will have a good level of secondary education and would either have a formal qualification in management/leadership, or demonstrable experience in leading a team, organising work and schedules and managing the associated admin. You will have experience in the cleaning and organisation of cleaning of domestic and commercial settings. You will be a great communicator and have experience dealing with team performance and managing safely, understanding the needs of the organisation with regards to Health and Safety and the safe storage and use of chemicals used for cleaning.
