Business, Economic and Social Policy

At the University of Derby, we are committed to using research to promote a Better Society and Better Business practices. Our research makes a positive and progressive difference through addressing social and business problems such as inequality and social inclusion, and through promoting social justice and inclusive, regional and sustainable growth. This year we are seeking to appoint three early career academics. We are particularly encouraging applicants in the following areas:

1. Entrepreneurship

Derby Business School has a long history of engaging with SMEs and entrepreneurs through its research, civic, knowledge exchange and impact initiatives. We welcome applicants with quantitative or qualitative backgrounds and would particularly encourage candidates who have experience of researching growth and/or sustainability issues in a SME/entrepreneurial context.

2. Law

The Centre for Justice, Law, and Society (CJLS) is home to staff and students engaged in wide ranging legal research to address domestic, regional, and global challenges and influence policy and practice. Research clusters include i) Applied Clinical Legal Education and Access to Justice; ii) International Law and Human Rights and iii) International Commercial and Environmental Law.

3. Applied Social Sciences

Topics of strategic importance to our applied social sciences research centre include social inequalities; community development; community organisations; access to public services; migration, diversity and identity; policing and criminal justice; and rehabilitation of people with convictions.
